American Gold Eagles:

American Gold Eagle Coins are "Legal Tender" currency that are manufactured by the United States Mint. This guarantees their gold content and purity. Because they are "legal/tender" and made by the U.S. Govt. Mint, they have a nominal face value. They are sold by the Mint and Investors, however, based on their actual gold content. (Sorry!)

Eagles are "hardened with other metals" so they weigh more than the amount of gold content. Gold is a very soft metal and pure gold would be "pliable" and easy to deface.

They are available in 1 Ounce, 1/2 Ounce, 1/4 Ounce and 1/10 Ounce gold coins. To learn more about American Eagle Gold Coins and Investing in Gold:
